GCSE Examination Results 2016

George Spencer’s Year 11 stars of 2016 have delivered a gold medal performance all of their own in this Olympic year. 79% of students gained English and Maths at a grade C or above under the new government key measure, and 75% gained 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths. This places this year’s results amongst some of the best in the Academy’s history.

The Principal of George Spencer Academy, Fraser Mitchell is delighted “I’m so proud of all of our students. This a real gold medal performance by them all in this Olympic Year. These are some of our best ever GCSE results and I want to pay particular tribute to the exceptional hard work of all of our staff who go above and beyond to make sure our students have every possible chance of success. Well done everyone!”.

Susan Jowett, who leads the Spencer Academies Trust with Fraser, was also thrilled. “I’ve enjoyed a perfect year – it started with my Damehood in January, some great Key Stage 2 results at our Trust primaries and now this – I’m so pleased for everyone at George Spencer”.

We wish all the students the very best.

We wish all of our students the very best of their futures – whether at Oxbridge, university, employment or in apprenticeships or training. I also want to thank the hard work of our staff and who have all played key roles in helping the sixth form achieve these results. We were also thrilled to get amongst some of best ever AS grades, despite all the changes to examinations this year.”

Karen Fawcett, Post 16 Director agreed, “It’s great to see so many smiling faces on results day. It’s the culmination of a lot hard work by them and their teachers and always a special moment seeing them celebrate when you’re Head of Sixth Form”.

This means that students will be able to take up their places at university with confidence.
