Modern Foreign Languages

The Modern Languages and International Dimensions faculty at George Spencer Academy teaches the subjects of French and Spanish.

 

Year 7: In Year 7, all students begin studying French and are put in to sets for a January start. Students in the top 2 sets will take up Spanish and continue with French. All other students continue to study French.

 

Year 8: Students continue with the languages that they studied in Year 7.

 

Year 9: Students continue with the languages that they studied in Year 8.

 

Years 10 & 11: French and Spanish are offered at GCSE level with the possibility of German GCSE being studied, dependent on numbers. Students have the opportunity to study two languages at GCSE level should they choose. The exam board for these qualifications is AQA: http://www.aqa.org.uk/subjects/languages

  

Years 12 & 13: A level qualifications are offered in French and Spanish. The exam board used for these qualifications is AQA: http://www.aqa.org.uk/subjects/languages
