Year 9 begin preparation for GCSE. They will study the following texts for English Literature:
An Inspector Calls – J.B. Priestley
A Shakespeare play (Romeo and Juliet or Macbeth)
We highly recommend that students purchase their own copy of these texts so that they can annotate and make notes effectively. There are also study guides that are widely available in print and online for these texts. Later in the year, students will work on responding to unseen poetry.
For English Language, students will continue to develop and consolidate their skills in using punctuation and grammar, as well as their ability to use key language techniques. Students will also develop their ability to write for a range of audiences and purposes
